Sayyid al-Istighfar (The Chief Supplication for Forgiveness)

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ ...

O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant; I keep Your covenant and promise as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

Al-Bukhari (6306)

Whoever recites it in the morning with certainty and dies before evening will be among the people of Paradise; likewise if recited at night.

We have entered the evening / morning belongs to Allah

أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ ...

We have entered the evening and the dominion belongs to Allah… (In the morning: We have entered the morning…). Includes asking for the good of this day/night and seeking refuge from its evil.

Said in the morning and evening.

In the Name of Allah by which nothing harms

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لا يَضُرُّ ...

In the Name of Allah, with Whose Name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

Abu Dawud (5088)

Whoever says it will not be harmed.

O Allah, by You we enter the morning

اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا ...

O Allah, by You we enter the morning and by You we enter the evening; by You we live and by You we die; and to You is the resurrection.

A morning/evening supplication.

O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth

اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ ...

Supplication seeking refuge from the evil of the self and of Satan and his traps, and from committing wrong against oneself or others.

Ahmad; Al-Albani authenticated (Sahihah 63)

Said morning and evening.

O Allah, I ask You for well-being

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ العَافِيَةَ ...

Asking Allah for pardon and well-being in religion, worldly life, family, and wealth; and comprehensive protection from all directions.

Authenticated by scholars.

This morning I praise You

أصبحت أثني عليك حمدًا ...

This morning I praise You with gratitude and testify that there is no deity but Allah. (In the evening: This evening I praise…).

A morning praise.

SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi (100 times)

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ

Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him.

Forgiveness of sins for one who says it 100 times.

La ilaha illallah, alone without partner (100 times)

لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ ...

There is no deity except Allah, alone with no partner; His is the dominion and praise, and He is over all things capable.

Equal to freeing ten slaves; 100 good deeds written; 100 sins erased; protection from Satan that day.

We have entered the morning upon the fitrah of Islam

أَصْبَحْنَا عَلَى فِطْرَةِ الإِسْلَامِ ...

Affirmation of Islam, sincerity, the religion of Muhammad ﷺ, and the way of Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

In the evening: We have entered the evening…

Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ – قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ – قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ

Recite the three surahs of protection.

Sufficient protection from all things.

SubhanAllah by the number of His creation… (3 times)

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ ...

Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him: by the number of His creation, His self-pleasure, the weight of His Throne, and the ink of His words.

Narrated from Juwayriya (ra).

I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of what He created.

Recite once (evening)

Muslim (2709)

One who says it will not be harmed.

The last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (284–285)

آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ ... لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ...

The closing verses of Al-Baqarah. Whoever recites them at night, they suffice him.
